You could come as well. You're following me around on here today so you may as well follow me around on retirement.

I retired when 55 then moved to Torbay South Devon 3 years ago. We have loads of places to explore and visit as well as walking down to the sea and harbour. Looking to buy a small boat to explore the coast. I try to get to a few West Ham games every season, it’s a long day but worth it.

Move to Australia, apply for citizenship, then cunt off everything about your country of birth.

See Sven Roeder for more details

Re: If you could retire tomorrow...
One of the first things that will happen is that you will spend a shitload of money buying or doing things you wished you'd bought or done over the years.
Its a bit like winning the lottery

Depending on your recent work experience, you will either feel grateful that you don't work with a bunch of morons, or you will miss the "banter" of your colleagues.
The former will be a relief
The latter, the people who you used to work with, will probably no longer stay in contact.

I'm very good at sitting around doing nothing after years of chaos, though I'll definitely be visiting more of the world in later life which I'm not able to do now.

A house next to the River Helmsdale, fishing, twitching and geetar strumming, bliss.....

Re: If you could retire tomorrow...
My plan is to retire at 60 and buy a bungalow with plenty of potential, do that up as and when I feel like it ( maybe 3 days a week) and then sell up and move into it with the missus. After that I might do a few more ‘doer-uppers’ until I’ve had enough and pack in completely, maybe around 65. Then spend my life doing a bit of gym, running, travelling and whatever else I fancy.

I know a few who’ve recently retired and say they don’t know how they ever found the time to do a full time job

Re: If you could retire tomorrow...
I went back to work when my wife accurately pointed out that I no longer knew or cared when it was Friday.

For me the main danger of retirement was reverting to 'student time', where one small task could expand to fill most of a day. I have found that the best way to get things done (for me anyway) is to have a fixed deadline.

I'm better off now than I've ever been but could retire if I wanted to, it's just that push you need

My Mrs retired 2 years ago and fills her time going open water swimming all year round in the channel !

She swims for about 20 mins and then spends the rest of the day telling me about how good it is !!

Well currently I’d probably go Lockdowning for the next 4 or 5 months… like everyone else will do…

Looking to go at 60… everything in place… 5.5 years to go… just got to get there… will look to get a biddy job doing something shit like driving or gardening for a couple of days a week just to get me out the house… otherwise… lots of dog walking and pubs

Re: If you could retire tomorrow...
take up match fishing, I'd also do some sort of qualifications to become a mental health care worker.
